IV. New Business
-
Donald Flinton resigned from the Board.
We voted to accept:
Yes=6, No=0
His resignation (and a photo
of his new son) appear below.
-
Moving some
of our money to higher interest accounts (Lynne):
We discussed putting some of
our money in higher interest accounts. We're going to task Millie with
providing some options.
-
Purchase an
external CD/DVD burner with a USB port (Doc):
The Digital Video SIG could
find this very useful. We voted to provide up to $200 to purchase one:
Yes=6, No=0
Dennis Schulman wanted the
opportunity to solicit a free one.
-
Alternative uses of the Resource Center (Doc):
Doc discussed the
possibility of promoting some community type events to take place at our
center (like a philosophical discussion group: Socrate's Cafe or even a movie
night). We are getting a LOT of usage out of our center. These
events would not only keep it open even more often, but also attract other
potential club members, and help to foster a sense of community spirit.
- Changing our monthly
raffles (Dennis Schulman):
Dennis
started a discussion about changing the nature of our raffles, but it was
quickly clear that the Board would favor minimizing our raffle efforts if
anything.
- Get a MySpace account
(Doc):
Doc asked for $100 to get
someone to build a MySpace account for us. We're hoping to use it to
promote our events to the local community. Approved:
Yes=6, No=0
===============================
Donald Flinton's resignation:
To the TBCS Board of Directors:
I
have given my resignation from the board as some of you know. I thought maybe I
would have some time to devote but I have changed my shift again so that between
Momma and Poppa we are with the baby as much as possible. So working a 2:30 -
11:30 shift I have the AM shift with the baby and not much extra time. We are
doing great little Donald Jordan, Sophie and I getting to know each other and
spending as much time together as we can.
I enjoyed my time on the board and hope I might get to contribute in a director
seat again in the future. I am not going anywhere and am able to steal a few
minutes at home or at work to be at the pc and hope that I will be able to
contribute to TBCS in some useful way. If anyone would like to contact me, I am
still at the gmail account. Thank you.
