Tampa Bay Computer Society Job Description

Membership Outreach Coordinator (appointed)

Primary Duties (actual regular duties performed and their frequency):

  1. Ensure that TBCS brochures are distributed to as many different locations as possible.  This includes computer stores, book stores, libraries, colleges, etc.  This should be done monthly.
  2. Post meeting notices on bulletin boards in community organizations.  This is done monthly.
  3. Distribute extra TBCS magazines to as many different locations as possible.  This would include libraries, doctor/dentist offices, etc.  This could be done monthly.
  4. Consider the possibility of printing a special quarterly or semi-annual TBCS magazine to be used specifically for outside distribution and outreach.
  5. Pursue opportunities to sell TBCS gift certificates to local computer stores for them to give to computer buyers as an ongoing promotion.
  6. Cultivate relationships with local businesses and organizations to make it easier to distribute promotional literature.  This is ongoing.
  7. Pursue all opportunities for setting up a TBCS booth or table at local trade shows, store promotions, or other community events.  Coordinate these activities as they come up.  This is ongoing.
  8. Investigate the possibility of conducting periodic direct mail campaigns using outside mailing lists to reach new members.
  9. Chair the Membership Outreach committee.  This is ongoing.  The Membership Outreach Coordinator is not required to personally attend to each of the duties assigned, but can recruit volunteers to assist in the effort and be delegated various tasks.
  10. Prepare an Activity Report of all major activities undertaken to fulfill the duties of Membership Outreach coordination.  This is done monthly, for submission at Board Meetings.  All other Board Members are expected to prepare similar reports of their activities.  This makes sure that all TBCS activities get into the written record and reduces the necessity for lengthy discussions.

Special Activities (any additional duties or jobs performed and their frequency):

  1. Update the Job Description and Procedures for Membership Outreach Coordinator to keep the TBCS Procedures Manual as up-to-date and complete as possible.  This is done on an ongoing basis, as required
