Primary Duties (actual regular duties performed and their frequency):
- .
Explain our Internet service offering and sign TBCS members up at
General Meetings. This is done
monthly. Forms must be filled
out and fees collected in advance.
- Disks
containing software for accessing the Internet service must be prepared and
made available to participating TBCS members for a nominal charge.
This is ongoing.
- Internet
accounts must be activated for new TBCS members who sign up shortly after
they apply. This is ongoing,
although it can be done monthly if all accounts are set to begin on the same
date each month.
- Non-renewed
Internet accounts must be deactivated.
This can be done monthly, if all accounts are set to expire the same
date each month.
- Troubleshoot
TBCS member problems with accessing the Internet service.
Any difficulties should be able to be resolved over the phone.
This is ongoing.
- .
Maintain the TBCS Web Site. This
includes posting all meeting information each month and making sure all
other information is up-to-date.
- Pursue
the addition of new content to the TBCS Web Site, such as graphics,
photographs, back-issue TBCS magazine articles, etc. This is ongoing
- Promote
the TBCS Web Site to TBCS members. Make
sure that its existence and the information available on it are continually
being communicated.
- Add
links to the TBCS Web Site from other web sites such as APCUG, FACUG,
various computer vendors, and local community organizations. Set up a counter on the TBCS Web Site to measure hits and
give feedback on the success of these efforts.
This is ongoing.
- Maintain
the Internet access on the Resource Center PC.
This is ongoing. The
donated account is used during open library times and by the Internet SIG’s.
- Chair
the Internet committee. The
Internet Coordinator is not required to personally attend to each of the
duties assigned, but can recruit volunteers to assist in the effort and be
delegated various tasks. This
is ongoing, and the committee can meet as required.
- Prepare
an Activity Report of all major activities undertaken to fulfill the duties
of Internet coordination. This
is done monthly, for submission at Board Meetings.
All other Board Members are expected to prepare similar reports of
their activities. This makes
sure that all TBCS activities get into the written record and reduces the
necessity for lengthy discussions.
Special Activities (any additional duties or jobs performed and
their frequency):
- Update
the Job Description and Procedures for Internet Coordinator to keep the TBCS
Procedures Manual as up-to-date and complete as possible.
This is done on an ongoing basis, as required.

This
is currently just a general outline of the duties of the Internet Coordinator,
indicating where procedures are applied, but without itemizing the actual
details of those procedures. It is
up to the current Internet Coordinator to log the actual procedural steps
currently being followed to manage the Internet accounts and the TBCS Web Site,
and update this job description accordingly.
