Primary Duties (actual regular duties performed and their frequency):

  1. Serve on the Newsletter committee.  This is ongoing.  The Newsletter committee should consist of the Editor, the Product Review Coordinator, the Advertising Manager, and any other volunteers recruited to assist in the effort and be delegated various tasks.  The committee should meet monthly to discuss each TBCS magazine and coordinate future efforts
  2. Solicit advertising from members who run their own businesses.  This is ongoing.
  3. Solicit advertising from local companies offering computer goods and services.  This is ongoing.
  4. Solicit advertising from national computer software and hardware vendors who are supportive of user groups.  This is ongoing.  National advertising is better than local because full rates are charged.
  5. Ensure that there are an adequate number of ad pages in each issue of the TBCS magazine.  This is done monthly.  Ad space in the magazine should be 20% and up.  More ads allows the magazine to be returned to 40 pages.
  6. Follow strict procedural controls to ensure that the revenues are collected for every single ad that is printed.  This is done monthly.  Multi-month ad buys should be prorated so that payments can be easily verified each month.
  7. Encourage other TBCS members to solicit advertising in the community.  This is ongoing.  Make sure thta they use the proper forms and follow the correct procedures.
  8. Review ad rates to be sure that they are in line with other publications in the marketplace.  This is ongoing.

Special Activities (any additional duties or jobs performed and their frequency):

  1. Update the Job Description and Procedures for Advertising Manager to keep the TBCS Procedures Manual as up-to-date and complete as possible.  This is done on an ongoing basis, as required.
