1) General Interest

Special Event: Windows 7 Launch Party this Thursday (Oct 22), 9am-9pm
Doors open at 9am and we'll "do" Windows 7 until 9pm that night!

You may have already noticed that the "buzz" about Windows 7 has been waaaay more favorable than that for Vista.  While many of us loved Vista, there's no doubt that it has had problems gaining a larger audience.  Windows 7 shows that Microsoft has been listening to their users.  The reviews have been very positive for several months during the Beta release.

TBCS has decided to support this new OS in a big way:

bulletWe will be converting at least half of our Lab computers to Windows 7 soon (although for the day of the launch, they will ALL be temporarily converted so that launch party attendees may get some hand-on experience with them).
bulletWe are going to have several different Windows 7 demonstrations and presentations that day (see below).
bulletWe will also do at least one live Windows 7 upgrade so that you can view one in progress.  TBCS members who bring their Windows XP or Vista computer, along with a retail copy of Windows 7, can get a free, supervised upgrade that day.

Lots of action... plenty of fun... AND we're going to feed you also!  What could be better?!

ALL are welcome to join us - whether you are a club member or not.
Note: ONLY TBCS members can get Win7 installed by our team.

TBCS: the Bay area’s oldest and largest computer user group is located at 1510 Barry Street in the Clearwater Professional Plaza:
map: www.tampa-bay.org/maps.htm

Food and refreshments will be available.

Doors open at 9am with the first presentation at 10am:

bullet10am - noon: A demo of Windows 7 showing its major features.
bullet1 - 2pm: Troubleshooting XP, Vista, & Win 7 problems with Windows tools.
bullet2 - 4pm: Live upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7
bullet5 - 6pm: The rich media capabilities of Windows 7
bullet7 - 9pm: A demo of Windows 7 showing its major features.

TBCS President and noted speaker Dave Dockery will be presenting along with Charles Oppermann, a 15-year veteran of Microsoft’s OS team.

While we started planning this only a few days ago, many people are coming together to make it happen.  Please forward the above info to your friends & neighbors who might be interested in joining us for the day.  Thanks.  Doc
