We recycle ALL ink & toner cartridges!
NEW: ALL ink and toner cartridges can now be accepted.  Please bring your cartridges to the Resource Center or to the Cultural Center the night of the monthly meeting.

We also recycle your cell phones & chargers!
We give them to a group that puts them back in circulation as 911 help for seniors (through county services).  If you donate a cell phone, please remember to bring the accompanying charger.  Please put ALL components in a plastic bag to save confusion as to which parts go to which phone.

This month, Dale Atchison brings us up-to-date on the free security programs he recommends... And touts a free backup program.

1) General Interest

This Week at TBCS
We purchased a new refrigerator for the Resource Center last week... really inconvenient not to have some cold drinks around.  Please remember to pay for sodas & water so we don't have to resort to thumbscrews.  <grin>

I'm so happy to have my friend and mentor Chuck Oppermann back in town that I'm going to put him to work one more time at the monthly meeting this week.  Chuck and I both love to show our favorite computer tips & tricks.  So we'll do that this week (as well as take some questions from the audience).  This will be another meeting that you won't want to miss.

-----

Our Random Acts of Kindness day on Friday, September 11th

We are opening up our clinic on that day to NON-TBCS members.  If you know someone who needs help with their computer, please encourage them to register and then bring it in.  The registration page, and other items are viewable at our wiki:
http://computer-raok.wikispaces.com

Will you please let us know if you can supply a covered dish that day for a pot-luck afternoon?  Just send an email to the Club Secretary.

-----

Our new Mac SIG will meet THIS MONDAY, 7-9pm!
Virginia Chilcote is going to lead the new SIG.  This group will meet on the 3rd Monday of each month from 7-9pm.  Let me be VERY clear here: we repair PC compatible computers ONLY.  We do not have the expertise to fix Macs at this time.  However, we DO want to provide interested Mac users with a place to network and share info.

-----

2010 FACUG Technology Cruise/Conference next February!
The Florida Association of Computer User Groups (FACUG) is going to hold their next spring conference aboard the Norwegian Sky cruise ship.  We will sail from Miami on Friday, February 26, 2010.  We'll be calling on Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas, and we'll return to Miami on Monday, March 1, 2010.

The cruise prices are wonderful: $233.37 per passenger including taxes, fees, and gratuities (in the cheapest cabins), and the conference is only $50 for TBCS members and their spouses.  We'll have presentations, programs, vendors, cruise adventure, and fantastic food and activities.  Please go to:
www.facug.org for details and registration.  We also have a wiki that you may use to get more details, and to meet up with other Cruisers:
http://facug-cruise.wikispaces.com/
