My Apologies...
Doc's Café will meet Wednesday at 7-9pm
New Media SIG This Saturday, 2-4pm
New Block Builder SIG starts next Sunday, 1-3pm

My Apologies...
I went to our monthly meeting last week all pumped up.
I have been touting the benefits of the social networking technologies
now for several months, and here was a practical application of that
technology: Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube were giving the Iranians a
chance to voice their displeasure with their government. Whether
they win their bid for fair elections or not, it's exciting to me to see
technology be such a game-changer.
I was very excited about showing how the technology
was being used so that our group could go home and watch what is
happening over there in real time. However, the word came back to
me that some felt my message was political in nature.
We are a computer group. What I attempt to
accomplish during our monthly meetings is to communicate the joy and
enthusiasm that I feel because we have so many powerful computer and
Internet tools at our disposal. I ALWAYS attempt to be apolitical
at our meetings. If I failed to do that last week, I apologize.
I assure you it was inadvertent, and I will try to do better in the
future.
So far I've had no feedback on what I said that caused
ruffled feathers. Please feel free to write me, and complain about
my behavior. I do take risks when I speak. Sometimes I hit,
and sometimes I miss. But I do listen and respond to your
feedback. Feel free to give it.
Thanks,
Doc

Doc's Café will meet Wednesday at 7-9pm
Here's the place we sometimes get political. All views are
welcomed and considered. This month we are going to discuss how
globalization and free trade are shaping our world after a very rosy
prediction by an optimistic economist. Come on out and expand the
horizons of your mind.

New Media SIG This Saturday, 2-4pm
