Conficker worm
fizzles... for the moment
I had something of a dilemma last week. You see,
the whole world was potentially going to be "attacked" on April Fool's
Day by the Conficker worm. While many suspected that little harm
might be done, no one knew just what was going to happen.
I'm pleased to report that little appears to have gone
wrong last week. I believe that, as long as you have Automatic
Updates turned on, you were probably going to be okay.
So... while I apologize to those for whom I created more
work, I'm pleased that some of you probably took a closer look at the
security of your computers.
This worm has supposedly infected from 5 to 20 million
computers worldwide. It might still be jump-started at some point
in our future. I know we have people who will patiently watch and
wait and, hopefully, kill the little rascal if he rears his ugly head.

PowerPoint SIG. Led by Peter Summers
As usual, we will deal with any questions and projects that your may be
working on. In addition, we have the topic of online templates
that we did not get to last time, the creation of self-contained CD ROMs
that I don't think I handled fully at the last meeting, and we have the
continuing issue of attaching audio to slide shows... how to link them,
how to embed them, when to do either. If time permits, I thought
it would be fun to look at PowerPoint 2007 for a little bit to see what
it offers that is different from 2003.
