Special Event: Chuck Oppermann Speaks
- THIS THURSDAY
Thursday, December 27th, 7-9pm at the Resource Center
"Secrets about
Vista, Office 2007, Virtual Earth, and Microsoft". Chuck Oppermann
returns to TBCS during the holidays to share his insights about
Microsoft's flagship products. Chuck works on Speech Technologies
for Microsoft, and is a key player in the development of Vista speech
recognition (which he'll also be demonstrating).
Chuck was a force in
Pinellas computing (as well as a TBCS member) before he moved to Seattle
and went to work at Microsoft on a product called Windows 95. We always
pack the Resource Center for his informative and entertaining
presentations. Afterwards we will be moving the party to O'Keefe's for
some adult libations, conversation, and much laughter. Sorry, but
this one is for TBCS members only.

Socrates Cafe - THIS WEDNESDAY!
Wednesday,
December 26th, 7-9pm at the Resource Center
Join our discussion group and share your viewpoint! Civil, thoughtful
discourse is our objective. No registration is required for this one (and
yes, it's free). This will be the LAST meeting of our group done in
the same format used by Socrates Cafes around the world. I want to
modify the format next month.
Please don't let the fact that a classical philosopher is lending his
name to this endeavor scare you away. You don't need to have a high IQ or
a college degree to participate. You need to be thoughtful about your
world, and want to discuss it in a friendly environment. Here's a great
description of what a Socrates Cafe is all about:

This event is open to non-members as well as members.
Feel free to invite your friends.
