Saturday, October 6th in Orlando
The Florida Association of Computer User Groups will be
holding their single-day conference this year on October 6th. TBCS

and past president of FACUG). This conference is targeted for
computer user group volunteers, but there are also some technical
roundtable. Early-bird signup ($25 fee) ends on August 31st.
TBCS will help to underwrite some of the expenses for the first few to
sign up. You can get more info at:

Please send an email to
the Club Secretary if you are
interested in attending.

"How
to use Squidoo to Promote Your Business, Hobby, or Non-Profit"
Free Seminar by
TBCS member Sally Anne Dishong
August 29th, 7 - 9pm at the
Resource Center. No registration required.
See Sally's Lens:
http://www.squidoo.com/4PillarsofPersonalPromotion/
Squidoo is a free, Web 2.0 social
network founded by marketing guru Seth Godin that lets you showcase your
expertise in any area—business, personal, or charitable. It’s kind of like
a cross between a blog, a micro site, and a MySpace page. The pages are
called “lenses” and the folks who create them are called “lensmasters”.
Unlike its competitors, Squidoo welcomes marketers, promoters, and
fund-raisers. It’s fast, fun, and easy to create a lens about your
passion. And you can link in blogs, videos, and online stores to raise
money for yourself or your favorite charity. If you’re looking for a way
to self-publish on the Web without having to cough up the time and money
for your own web site, this is a great option.
In this complimentary 2-hour
introductory workshop you’ll learn the basics of Squidoo and create your
first lens. You, too, can be famous! If you want to actually create
your lens in class, you’ll need your wireless laptop, a one-page bio text
document, a digital photograph suitable for publicity, and a one-page
article about your passion.
