1) General Interest

There's a lot a goin' on at TBCS...

Goodness, this needs to be fast so here goes:

- Contractors have started on our new audio & video room editing room.  We already have the computers we need.  Now we're working on getting the proper hardware and software.

- We're going to have a Grand Opening Celebration & RAK Computer Repair on Saturday, October 27th (don't worry, we expect to be using it long before then.  Let us know if you would be interested in being the chairperson for feeding participants that day.

- Phil Sullivan, Jan McNulty, & Jim Boynton are scheduling several courses.  Phil has one that starts soon.  I'll fill you in on the rest next week.

- TBCS is going to have a table at the Palm Harbor Senior Health Fair on October 4th.  Details to follow.  I'll be looking for volunteers.

There's more, but I'm out of time for now.

Vern Goheen Update

Vern had his open heart surgery a few days ago.  Only one artery needed to be bypassed.  He is slowly recovering and, hopefully, will soon be able to communicate with us again.  Keep sending your good thoughts his way.

Free Seminar: How to use Squidoo to Promote Your Business, Hobby, or Non-Profit by TBCS member Sally Anne Dishong
August 29th, 7 to 9pm at the Resource Center

Squidoo is a free, Web 2.0 social network founded by marketing guru Seth Godin that lets you showcase your expertise in any area—business, personal, or charitable. It’s kind of like a cross between a blog, a micro site, and a MySpace page. The pages are called “lenses” and the folks who create them are called “lensmasters”.  Unlike its competitors, Squidoo welcomes marketers, promoters, and fund-raisers. It’s fast, fun, and easy to create a lens about your passion. And you can link in blogs, videos, and online stores to raise money for yourself or your favorite charity. If you’re looking for a way to self-publish on the Web without having to cough up the time and money for your own web site, this is a great option.

In this complimentary 2-hour introductory workshop you’ll learn the basics of Squidoo and create your first lens. You, too, can be famous!  If you want to actually create your lens in class, you’ll need your wireless laptop, a one-page bio text document, a digital photograph suitable for publicity, and a one-page article about your passion.
