1) General Interest

Back To Basics week at TBCS

We still have many of our members who do NOT understand Windows fundamentals.  From time to time I think we will have to re-visit the basics.  New people are always coming on board, and established users often need a refresher.  I'm going to try to see that they get that.

This week will be a big push in that direction.  I'm going to be speaking about Basic Windows 3 times this week:

1. Tuesday afternoon at the Resource Center from 1 to 3 pm when I do the Novice SIG.

2. Tuesday evening at the Largo Cultural Center from 5:30 to 6:30 pm when I attack Windows Explorer Basics before the main meeting.

3. Saturday morning at the Palm Harbor Library from 10am 'til noon I will do Windows Basics once again.

On one hand, it's the Windows Explorer seminar on Tuesday evening that's the most important.  Windows Explorer is the heart and soul of Windows - if you understand it, then so many Windows tasks like saving files, copying files, creating CDs, manipulating your photos, etc. are trivial tasks.  When you don't understand Windows Explorer, then you don't function competently with computer.  I've never tried to shoehorn this seminar into only 60 minutes, but I'm going to give it my best shot this week.  It's free and open to EVERYONE (even non-members).

June Hollister's Online Business Class - STARTS THIS WEEK!
5 Friday nights starting July 20th from 7 - 9 PM

This Friday night will be the start of June's Advanced Online class.  However, the first class will be essentially a review of June's Basic Online class.  It will be reviewed by John Lowe & Joel MikesellJune will return on July 27th to teach 4 more weeks in a row.

Since this class is now FREE it's almost filled up.  If you plan on attending, but you haven't yet registered, you could get shut out at the door.  You MUST register to reserve a spot (see directions under "TBCS Classes" below)

While June has generously consented to teach the class for free, ALL students should plan on giving her $5 for the handouts that she will give out (a total charge - NOT a weekly charge).  I think that it's only fair that she not be stuck with all of the expenses of producing handouts for this course.  Let's keep this simple, can we?  Can everyone please just bring a $5 bill this Friday?  And, NO, I'm not writing receipts.  Thanks.
