WEDU
Pledge Drive - NEXT Monday Night!
Monday, June 4, 7-10 PM in Tampa: 1300 N Boulevard, Tampa 33607
We're going to
take a crew of 12 volunteers to WEDU's studio to take incoming phone
pledges during their pledge drive. The first hour is orientation and
food (pizza, drinks, & chips) followed by 2 hours of answering the phones.
This is your last chance to join us. We could use
a couple more members - especially someone who doesn't mind driving a car
pool to Tampa. Come on out and join us. We'll have a good
time.
If you are interested, please send an email to the
Club Secretary.

Classroom Capers:
Online
Business starts this Friday.
Phil Sullivan & Carol King are taking vacations.
Exciting new FREE classroom offering!
June Hollister's 12-week odyssey into the world
of an Internet Online Business begins this Friday night. Lots
of people want to make money with an online business. June teaches
the nuts and bolts of how to make that happen.
Carol King and Phil Sullivan teach two very
popular SIGs every Friday. After this Friday, they are both going to
take some time off to recharge. I know they'll both be missed.
I'll be sure to let you know of their return.
And now for something REALLY different! Tom
Kiehl is a past president of TBCS, and our longest-running SIG leader.
He's been leading our Visual Basic SIG for several years now.
Tom has decided to teach one of the most popular programming languages:
C# ("C Sharp"). Tom is going to teach it as part of his VB SIG
so it is FREE to TBCS members. This is a great deal for anyone
interested in programming.
I'll let Tom tell you about it in his own words:
Mark your calendar for Tuesday June 5th, 7:00pm.
The VB SIG will do something that's a little different: a learning series
on Visual C#... from Scratch.
A quick look at job postings and articles on programming
will show that C# is usually the language of choice. Also,
practically all concepts will apply to VB.NET or any other .NET language.
We'll be setting aside an hour or more of each VB-SIG meeting for learning
to program in C# from the ground-up. TBCS Members can attend and
participate at no cost, however, purchasing the study book will enhance
and reinforce learning.
The first meeting, Tuesday June 5th will be set aside
for introductions, discussions in more detail of the path we'll take, and
what is needed for the series in terms of development software (free), the
book (under $30), and other startup details.
The book and our series starts with the assumption that
the reader knows little or nothing about C# and perhaps just a bit of
programming in general. The aim is to leave no student behind.
How long all this will take is an unknown, we'll just go with the flow.
