Intel Presents:
How to turn your PC into a home digital movie making "studio"
|

TBCS has been recycling ink and toner cartridges for some time now. Starting this week, we're also going to recycle cell phones. We will give the cell phones to a group that puts them back in circulation as 911 phones:

The people to whom we donate the cell phones request that you include the charger for it if at all possible. Bring all of these items to the meeting with you this Tuesday and we'll take care of 'em for ya.

Video experts tell us that movies on tape have a shelf life of about 20 years before they may become "unwatchable." If you have precious family memories on VHS, Hi8 analog, or even digital tape it's time to get your movies digitized and on a PC and burned to CDs or DVDs as the ultimate preservation safeguard.
Ralph Bond & Steve Short, both Consumer Education Managers for Intel Corporation, will be on hand to explain and demonstrate examples of the wide range of hardware and software available today to help you get your movies transferred to a PC, edit them with fun title slides and special effects and then, most important of all, preserve them for future generations by burning them on CDs or DVD discs that can be viewed on a standard DVD player connected to a TV.
Software to be featured includes Pinnacle System's "Expression" for beginners and "Studio 8" for more advanced users. Also highlighted will be Sonic's "MyDVD" program. Hardware solutions ranging from a Digital Camcorder linked to a PC using a FireWire connection to the latest USB 2.0 external video capture/recording products will be discussed and demonstrated.
They will have a brand new Gateway, dual-monitor system designed for home movie-making (see: http://www.gateway.com/home/prod/hm_700xldfm_proddetail.shtml), and several Centrino Tech based Laptops and a DVD player. It will be lots of ultra cool stuff.
As always, our meetings are open to the public so feel
free to bring your neighbors with you for an interesting and entertaining
evening.
