1) We lose another beloved member

One of the things that I have always thought was neat about our club is that we draw several of our members from other local computer user groups - including their presidents.  I'm not going to name them all (I'll be embarrassed if I forget any), but I can readily think of 7 leaders of other clubs that have joint membership in our club, and encourage their members to join up with us.

We're about to lose one whose been very supportive, Marion Peterson from Bay Aristocrat Village.  Marion and her husband, Pete, have been spending their summers for the last 2 years working at Dollywood.  They've enjoyed themselves so much that they've decided to move there permanently.  We'll miss you Marion, and I know your group will miss you also.

Marion sent the following email to me a few days ago, and I wanted to share it with you.

Hi Doc,
Just reading your latest bulletin about building membership, and I have some happy/sad news.  Happy that Pete and I are going to have a home here in Tennessee now.  But one of the saddest things for me is dealing with the fact I have to cut the umbilical cord to TBCS.  You may not know it, but this group, through thick and thin has been been my backbone to gaining computer knowledge.
I always felt bad that other obligations kept me from participating more.  You and other club members have supported the group I started at Bay Aristocrat Village, but Dollywood finally won us over to Tennessee.  Now we are buying a house here which means the scenery changes from the Old Tampa Bay canal to the great Smoky Mountains.
Thanks and God Bless for all you do.  Your programs are working... so many of us just need a few hands-on lessons before we can fly.  God Bless each of you...  Marion  (retiring #1596)

2) TBCS Classes

Chuck Vroman and his crew announced several new classes this week.

Dennis Schulman is going to do his Basic Word Processing course again.  This is a hands-on course that takes place in our computer lab over 4 sessions.  That's a total of 8 instructional hours at a total cost of $40 (there might be a buck or two charge for a workbook).  The classes will take place from 1 to 3 pm on June 11, 12, 18 & 19.

President, Jim Boynton, has scheduled 4 separate courses.  Each costs $10 and lasts for 2 hours:

Buying on eBay June 11 1-3 pm
Selling on eBay June 12 1-3 pm
CD Burning June 18 1-3 pm
Troubleshooting June 19 1-3 pm

Stan Ashbrook's Photoshop course is scheduled for 4 consecutive Saturdays from 9 am 'til noon on August 2, 9, 16, & 23.  Each class is 3 hours in length for a total of 12 instructional hours.  This is NOT a hands-on course, but it is very popular.  The last time Stan gave this course, several of his students told me they had such a good time and learned so much that they wanted to take it again.
