1) What can I do for our military?

You used to be able to show your appreciation to our folks in the military by sending packages to "Operation Dear Abby" or "Any Servicemember", but our world grows ever more complex.  Our DoD (Department of Defense) had to suspend all of these types of programs because they could be used to introduce hazardous materials into the mail system from unknown sources.

Mail from family members and loved ones is still supported and encouraged.  Three excellent resources for information and suggestions on what to do for our military are:

My favorite gift idea is to donate a phone card to help them stay in touch with their families via Operation Uplink at: http://www.operationuplink.org/

4) Safety Recall for an APC UPS

American Power Conversion (APC) is voluntarily recalling 2 of its Uninterruptible Power Supply models due to potential safety issues that may result in overheating and represent a potential fire hazard.

If you have purchased an APC unit (they are very popular with a lot of TBCS members), then go to:
http://apc.com/rely/index.cfm?ISOCountryCode=us
for everything you need to know about this issue.
